NIGERIA

I was out today and I saw a camel for the first time in real life, it was so huge! I was worried because if these things grow that big then how tall exactly are giraffes? Honestly, the camel’s neck reached the top of the tree it was tied next to. I had originally thought that they only grow to be as tall as horses, but clearly I was wrong. Well it was my first time and it was really fascinating for me, I had hoped to be able to snap it but I got frightened, I heard camels can have a mean temper. I don’t know where I heard it but I certainly heard it somewhere (maybe that’s just the fear talking). Anyway to be on the safe side I decided to not to offend the gentle beast with any unwanted paparazzi, so I went my way. Although I would love to know how much that camel cost though.

Moving on, this Nigeria is no longer fit for residence though, from what I am observing because otherwise how can the prices of goods and services be doubling everytime one breathes. “Nigeria, let the poor breathe, don’t suffocate them” because I feel suffocated already. Can you imagine, I bought potatoes and #600 only got me three big ones, I feel so drained. Budgeting for long periods runs into hundreds of thousands and that’s only taking into consideration the bare necessities. I do not know if we can continue to survive like this, because it is so exhausting having to slash a basic list every time you step into the market just to accommodate the constant price changes. At this point I am not even quite sure what factors are at play behind the constant increases. Because everyone says, “Oh, it’s the exchange rate” but do we really import perishable foods or we produce? Mennn! I am not an economics student but nothing adds up anymore, yet the consumer is expected to bear the burden at every stage. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I really hope you enjoyed spending these few precious moments with me, if you did remember to like this post and share your thoughts with me in the comments section below. Çiao.
