Whenever I think of the word Ramen, the anime, Naruto is the first thing that pops into my head. As a quarter-otaku—since I don’t have what it takes to be a full otaku— I have always wanted to know what Naruto’s favorite dish tasted like, and if it was as nice as the anime portrayed it to be. So far of all the Ramen noodles I have had,I have to say I feel it is a little bit overrated. When I make it I can only eat it a couple times and I need a week-long break before I can have it again because I grow tired of it easily. Although, in some videos you see the cook throw in sesame seeds, soy sauce, green onions and a bunch of follow-come sauce packets and it looks heavenly but then I try making it (with less garnishing of course. I’m broke) and I’m like “wow, it’s really nice but… it’s still just noodles” well this may probably be attributed to the fact that I haven’t had Korean or Japanese ramen(/ramyeon) you know? Or maybe my taste buds have all been scrubbed off, it could even be that I’m having a low grade one or something, or it probably just isn’t worth the hype. As an anime lover, Naruto definitely got me wrapped up in the ramen excitement but in real life… I’d much rather have some real food. No offense though. Maybe I need someone to serve me a bowl of well cooked ramen with all the appropriate condiments so I can truly appreciate the culture.
I really hope you enjoyed this little peek into my mind, if you did I would like to know your thoughts on Ramen, and if there is a way you prepare it that makes it nicer, also don’t forget to share with those you love.
